3-5% swing in votes for Cong in MP, Chhattisgarh: Rahul
INDORE: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said he is confident that Congress will win in both MP and Chhattisgarh as a “3 to 5% swing” in votes will tilt the scales in the party’s favour. During an interaction with journalists here, he said he doesn’t agree that Chhattisgarh is headed for a hung assembly. “The vote difference between Congress and BJP is less than 1% in Chhattisgarh. We are looking at a 3-5% swing in favour of Congress in both Chhattisgarh and MP,” he said. However, it wasn’t clear how this swing would bridge the gap between Congress and BJP in MP, where the difference between vote-share of the two parties stands at 8.5%. The Congress chief said that the party lost the 2014 Lok Sabha polls because of its own mistakes and because it failed to live up to the expectations of people. “This time we’ll play on the front foot, not back foot,” he said. Pressing on with his attack on ‘corruption’ under the BJP government, he said: “If an inquiry begins into the Rafale deal, PM Narendra Modi is going to jail. I’m not saying this, it’s a former French President who has exposed the Rafale deal,” he said.
